I was able to determine the difference in comparable data in my Introduction to Epidemiology COH 315 course. I learned how to calculate and compare cause-specific rate, age-adjusted rates, and crude rate in deaths. For example, if crude rate decreases after adjustment, the study population is older than the standard population, however, if it increases after adjustment, the study population is younger than the standard population. I was also able to determine what data I may use or collect to determine incidence or prevalence for a specific public health issue in a specific population based on the evidence provided from weekly case studies in the class
