Please write a 200-250 word response to the following question. In your answer, please refer to the readings and the lectures.

During the San Francisco conference on the UN, the US and other big powers made clear to delegations from smaller countries that giving the big powers a veto in the UN Security Council was necessary in order to establish (i.e. it was necessary to ensure ratification by the US Senate). Do you think this was a sensible compromise? Please explain why or why not.
