In the first Edition of this text the author described the issues with police cynicism. Unfortunately, it was edited out of this Second Edition. I have added a reading on the topic from Law Officer dot com.
The FBI defined the term 15 years ago as: an attitude of "contemptuous distrust of human nature and motives."(1) A cynic expects nothing but the worst in human behavior. In short, cynicism is the antithesis of idealism, truth, and justice - the very virtues that law enforcement officers swear to uphold.
