Originally, the most recognized standard for environmental management was the British Standard BS7750. This is the standard which deals with Environmental Management Systems. On top of this, there was the EMAS Regulation (1836/93). It contains most of what BS7750 has, only it entails the publication of verified environmental statements at after a certain period in the course of the system implementation.
