Provide a 3 pages analysis while answering the following question: Good Nutrition Helps Fight Cancer. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. There are a lot of available treatments for cancer depending on the severity of the disease and the malignancy of the cancer cells, but recent researches found out that plant-based nutrition and diet have a possible great contribution to the fight.

Dr. Patrick Quillin, Vice President of Nutrition for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Inc in his article "Nutrition in Cancer Treatment" discussed the importance and contribution of the plant-based diet in the fight against cancer. The article emphasized, and is further supported by Doll and Peto (1192) that dietary factors have been thought to account for about 30% of cancers in western countries.

Although the articles and lots of other information have been published in almost any medium throughout the world, doubts still exist among the minds of the desperate cancer victim. Since the discoveries of the potential of nutrition as an aid to fight cancer evidence to show it cured or prevented the disease is still not as convincing. The inclusion of plant-based diet in cancer victims may lower the chance of recurrence as a cause of the changes in dietary preferences and may not be a direct cause of the nutrients the new food or diet contains. To support this view Key, et. al (188) stated that the type of cancers reported in western countries, such as colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers, are associated with their diet which contains a greater amount of meat and low in plant-based foods. Likewise, cancers of the esophagus, stomach, and liver, are associated with diets containing starchy staple foods, and low intakes of animal products, fat and sugar. Therefore it is highly probable that changing diet may lower the chance for cancer associated with the old food types but chances that other cancer related to the new food types may arise.
