Provide an overview of the two primary political parties in America today:  Democrats and Republicans.  The paper should include the following:

• How did they originate
• What are the key differences in their platforms
• What interest groups support each party
• How does public opinion help to shape each party

The paper should be around 1500 words. 

The assignment should be submitted as a paper that includes a title page, an intro and a conclusion. 

The assignment needs to be supported with a minimum of three outside resources. All analyses need to be supported with in-text citation references and a reference list will need to be included at the end of the paper.  Please follow APA guidelines for references formatting.
