  1. Use a web planning tool to reveal the relationship between ideas and concepts found in books.
    • Identify a goal.
      • Keep the goal/topic broad enough to be able to incorporate language arts and the content area you have designed.
    • Identify at least 10 titles, from 3 different genres (which will be used in the annotated bibliography AND the 3 learning outcomes)
      • The texts should represent a range of reading levels so that all students in a grade level class can benefit from reading these books and contributing to the class conversations
    • Identify 3 learning outcomes for the unit
      • In addition to the outcomes, designate which books you would use for read-aloud to the class, small group reading, individual reading.
        • Read aloud
          • List 2 books that support the goal that can be read aloud
        • Small Group
          • List 4 books that support the goal that can be read in small groups. Must be from 2 different genres
        • Individual Reading
          • List 4 books that support the goal that can be independent reads. Must be from 2 different genres
      • Design at least 2 activities that fit the content area and address either writing, reading or oral language ELA standards.
      • Design 1 discussion point that fits the content area.
  1. Provide an annotated bibliography (which includes a citation and summary/rationale) for these books and use MLA style citations.
    1. The annotated bibliography will include at least 10 titles, from at least 3 different genres (from the books you used above)

  • How might you use the texts as a literature discussion group
