Q - Discuss the significance of employee benefits to the employee and to the organization. A - Employee benefits are one of the many perks job hunters look for when they are deciding to work for a company. I work for a small company staffed with many retired military folks. Since a majority of the company had medical/dental through the VA, the company did not offer an insurance plan. Instead they provided an insurance stipend, which really wasn’t enough for insurance. This was a negative for many employees especially to those with families. Years later the company realized they were no longer competitive in the market and was literally losing employees to companies because of a lack of benefits. So in order to prevent further loss and become an attractive employer, the company implemented a plan and now pays 100% of the employee. The company realized benefits “can be helpful in recruiting and retaining qualified employees” (French 455). Ref - French, W. (2009). Human resources management 6th ed.. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Co. (Pg 455). Criteria – Respond to the answer above by adding more information to your response or indicate that you disagree with anything that was said and why.
