Read Lewis Carroll Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1864) chapters 5-12 Comment on Discussion board-Carroll 2. Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision all reflect negative views because adults have their opinions and get to behave however they want due to their age. Caroll represents these traits through the characters in the story. For example, The Queen of Hearts represents derision. The Queen of Hearts is rude and puts other peopel down. All she does is decapitate and Alice is one of her targets. When Alice enters the Garden of the Queen of Hearts, she becomes confident and more vocal. For example, it states, "My name is Alice, so please your Majesty,” said Alice very politely; but she added, to herself, “Why, they’re only a pack of cards, after all. I needn’t be afraid of them!” Alice is speaking up for herself. She knows who the Queen of Hearts is and knows she's not someone to mess around with. Alice finds confident either way. At the end, Alice's sister imagines Alice's story and holds on to it. Although she is an adult, she'll always be child like at heart and that doesn't bother her. This part reflects to the ideals of Romanticism by showing Alice's sister stepping out of reality for a second. She uses her imaginaton to feel like a kid again.
