During the first three chapters of Imprisoning Communities, Dr. Clear argues that the imprisonment policies currently used in the U.S. do not work. He supports this point of view by outlining the major argument for imprisonment--deterrence--and how the evidence does not support deterrence theorists' assertions. In this journal entry, select a crime theory that supports or refutes Dr. Clear's argument that imprisonment policies currently used in the US do more harm than good. Be sure to cite specific examples from the three chapters to support your argument.
