A group is a collection of individuals who coordinate their individual efforts. A team is a group of people who share a common team purpose and a number of challenging goals. Griffin, Phillips, and Gully state that “all teams are groups, but not all groups are teams” (p.240). I currently work for myself so I am not apart of a group or a team. My last job I would say we were a team because we all had to work together to meet a certain monthly goal every month. We all had individual goals, but also had to work as a team for our manager to receive a bonus. Our manager only got a bonus if we met our monthly quota. I believe that isn't fair that her pay was based off of employees efforts or performance. I think they should give each manager a quota so that they can be in control of their own bonus payout. The concept of conscious culture fits in because we all knew what was expected of us every month and sometimes still did not meet our mostly quota knowing that it would hurt our manager financially. Most of times it wasn't intentional, we just didn't get lucky that particular month.
