This would indeed be a challenge to narrow down a direct message in terms of a leadership philosophy statement. However, my views on leadership are simple yet impactful. The essence of my leadership values would include teamwork, collaboration, hard work, interpersonal connections, result-driven, embrace problem-solving and the need for constant refinement and improvement. Inner values do mold and shape who we are as individuals as well as leaders. The supreme example of a great leader would have to be Savior Himself. The Master taught during His earthly ministry about being selfless and reiterated how the least among you is the greatest while seeking out the lowly of heart and the down-trodden. With that, we see how Jesus modeled His values of leadership after the example of His Father.

I have been acquainted many times with the role of supportive followership and have learned again and again that through this role, not everyone wants to lead. When I attended Basic Combat Training and Officer Candidate School and various other trainings in the Army, someone needs to take charge in stressful environments, however the one individual that stands up and shows confidence to take charge enables others to join in to be led and be able to accomplish the missions.

This supportive followership role has molded my own leadership style by having the following: Having a sound mind, acting and not reacting, be the example, listening/considering others comments/concerns and most importantly following through the execution of the plan. These would have to be my expectations of myself and others whenever taking on effective leadership.

I feel strongly that my leadership style models after the Servant Leadership style, with a hint of Coaching style. I work to possess the ‘open-door’ policy where anyone can reach me with questions or concerns. Influencing tactics that I would use would be to emphasize my drive to complete the mission, task or objective. To be true to myself and others around me. Effective followers are only willing to follow those that lead by example rather than the ‘do as I say, not as I do’ style.
