Exercise 3:      SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PAPER (100 points)

Research the topic you have selected and focused, using the available resources.  Use current and relevant references and present the information in an organized report format with an introduction, body and a conclusion.  Submit the following:

1. Cover sheet with your full name, course name and number and assignment title
2. 1400 word minimum, word-processed report on your topic.
3. Double spaced
4. 12 pt Font
5. APA format for in text and Sources cited format
6. A Source Cited page with at least six (6) references
   • Source Quality is considered

Rubric

Overall score:    #words/1400 words

I start with the word count you give me, your grade starts there.  If you give me 1300 words (Sources cited DO NOT COUNT) I start your grade at 93/100.

Since most research papers are on a variety of subjects these are the General Categories I am grading against:

• APA format (in-text citation, sources cited, font, margins, spacing) (10 points)
  • Includes citation of where AI tools were used for editing
• Sources cited (all of your sources listed have an in-text citation and vice versa) (10 points)
  • Includes citation of AI tools and prompts
  • Sources are reasonable for the topic # and quality (see notes below)
  • When facts are presented is there an in-text citation given?
• General writing - paraphrasing and writing is original.   Grammar and spelling are with in reason for a college paper (10 points)
  • Plagiarism checker is used and gives an originality report
• Flow - paper has clear progression of thought (beginning, middle, end) (10 points)
• Content -  Information on the topic is accurate, and logical (60 points)
