Step 1: Understanding the SDGs

1. Go to https://sdgs.un.org/goalsLinks to an external site. and review the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
2. Choose one SDG related to health (e.g., SDG 2 - Zero Hunger, SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being, SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation).
3. Take brief notes on the SDG’s primary objectives and why it is important for global health.

Step 2: Navigating HealthData.org

1. Open HealthData.org visual data webpage: https://www.healthdata.org/Links to an external site.
2. Explore the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) data or the SDG Progress Tracker.

Step 3: Investigating an SDG Indicator

1. Select one health-related SDG indicator (e.g., maternal mortality rate, child malnutrition, access to safe drinking water, life expectancy).
2. Choose a specific country or region to investigate.
3. Use HealthData.org links above to find the most recent available data on your chosen indicator.
   • Compare trends over time (e.g., from 2000 to present).
     • How has it changed?
   • Examine how the country compares to global or regional averages.
     • How is it different?
   • Identify any disparities based on income, geography, or other social determinants of health.
     • Why is it different?
