RESPOND TO THIS: 250 WORDS AND APA CITE
An educational leader has many characteristics, but I believe certain ones are critical to be a leader. An effective leader is passionate, moral stewardship and democratic character (Cordeiro & Cunningham, 6).
Characteristic of an Education Leader
You must have passion to work in education and want too see the betterment of others. Honesty and having good morals go hand and hand. At all times being an upstanding citizen and representing yourself and the school positively .Having a democratic character shows that regardless of class, age, color, or gender, you treat everyone with the upmost respect and will not tolerate any negative and unhealthy situations.
Skills of a Leader
Skills that educational leader must acquire and practice are leadership, Good decision making, Supervisor and motivator and Oral communication. Becoming and being a good leader takes hard work and ways to become a good leader is by listening to people who have been in situations you haven’t and always ready to acquire knowledge about anything. Making good decision making for the entire school body is an important skill because your decisions effect everyone. A good leader motivates other leaders to be great and supportive to other staff and students. Last skill that is also important is being able to orally communicate. Communicating with staff, students, parents and other community partners is very vital in the success of the school and to one’s platform. “Platforms provide an opportunity for reflection while they serve as a guide for school leadership practice” (Ovando 2004, p37).
An educational leader must be have the proper characteristics and skills needed to be effective and in order to maximize his or her potential they must continue to evolve their skills in order to be a great leader.
