Critical literacy is very important to student’s growth it helps them to develop and look at texts in new ways.  One study shared the following of critical literacy this study claimed, “Critical literacy is the ability to actively read text in a manner that promotes a deeper understanding of socially constructed concepts; such as power, inequality, and injustice in human relationships. Critical literacy encourages individuals to understand and question the attitudes, values, and beliefs of written texts, visual applications, and spoken words” Weebly  (2017).  Critical literacy outside of the classroom helps children to develop by looking at the world around them, and helps them to get the tools they need to engage and grow in society.
