Open the Library site in a new tab or window: http://www.xavier.edu/library/. Using the "Search @XU" option, pick a topic you are interested in and search for this topic plus either the word "p-value" or "significance level" to make sure the article includes a hypothesis test. For example, I could type eating disorders and p-value in the first search window. Once you get your results scroll down until you find an article that includes the full article as a PDF file instead of only the abstract. Summarize your article (75 - 100 words) by including the following (if applicable):
- Research Question - What was investigated?
- Collecting the Data - How was the data collected? Is the data from a random sample? What is the sample size?
- Data Description - What kind of visuals were used to organize the data (bar charts, tables, scatterplot, etc.)?
- Hypothesis Test - What kind of hypothesis test was used (ANOVA, Chi-Square, Student's t, Regression, etc.)?. Your article may use a different test than we've studied but that's ok What is the p-value (sometimes articles just say "P")? If your article has more than one hypothesis test and p-value pick one to discuss.
- Conclusions - What conclusions were made?
- Citation - Include a citation of your article using the following format and attach the pdf to your submission:
Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date of publication). Title of article. Title of Online Periodical, volume number (issue number if available). Retrieved from http://www.someaddress.com/full/url/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
