Tertiary PTSD

Each day many tragic events occur that produce symptoms of PTSD in those who witness them. The worst terrorist act in the U.S. occurred in 2001, and was played and replayed on television and in conversation. The effects caused many to experience PTSD symptoms. Since those people were not directly involved in the incident, their malady is considered tertiary PTSD. Although this is not a diagnosable disorder, their impairment may be just as detrimental to quality of life as that of someone experiencing traditional PTSD.

In this Seminar, you will discuss this form of PTSD, how it affects people, how it can lead to more crisis situations, and what you can do to reduce and treat it. You will talk about the symptoms that people with tertiary PTSD develop and the implications this phenomenon has on the nation and the healthcare system.

What effects do people with tertiary PTSD develop? What implications does this phenomenon have on the country and the healthcare system?
