Start with just a sentence about what kind of agency you are so that the class understands your special challenges.

1.  There has just been a high profile homicide in your agency's jurisdiction.  The victim is a magistrate known to be very supportive of law enforcement and is the spouse of one of your command staff.  You may have another agency investigate but you must be the one to decide what information and when it goes to the public.   In addition, you are hearing that there may be photos of the crime scene on social media.

2.  There has just been a terror threat to release a CBRNE weapon somewhere in your jurisdiction.  Again, all the appropriate agencies and the Feds are involved in the investigation and they have decided (lol) that any information should come from the local authority, you.  You are in charge of information dissemination.  What information and when do you release it?   Do you hold a press conference? What do you release? How often do you communicate with the media?
