(1) Read Gaventa's essay on the cosmic power of Sin in Our Mother, Saint Paul, chapter 9.

(2) Next, read the Fitzmyer section on Sin, Death, Satan, and the Flesh in Paul and His Theology, pp. 71-74 (paragraphs 81-88). This reading is on Paul's anthropology, that is, what Paul believed about human nature and its relation to evil.
