Relate the life cycle of the American family to the evolution of the family from a sociological perspective discussed in the article entitled, “The Changing American Family: The View from Social Texts” by Drs. McCarthy and Farganis. Please be very specific and complete in relating the two. During the course of the semester we have discussed various topics as being a social construct. Begin your essay by defining what is meant by a social construct from a sociological point of view. Then discuss how the institution of the family can be viewed as a social construct. Then list the various topics we have discussed from a social constructionist point of view. Finally, pick one of these topics and discuss it from a social constructionist perspective. Be sure to include certain aspects of the topic to exemplify your point.
