Part I: Pre-Writing
Before we build a house, we start with a blueprint. Writing is similar. Before you start writing your paper, you should always have an outline, which is like a blueprint. An outline is made of global topics and categories in a bulleted fashion. There are not a lot of details yet.
Review this video for an overview of the Writing Process- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQMKV6a1IWk
An overview of the Writing Process is provided below. We will return to this process each module of this course. For now, begin with the early stages of pre-writing (brainstorming) for you to have a solid foundation for your paper’s structure and content.
- Pre-Writing
- Drafting
- Revising
- Peer Review
- Editing
- Publishing
Please review the writing resources in the Aspen Writing & Resource Center (WRC)
Please review the rubric for this week’s assignment. It will provide you with exact details about what your instructor expects and how you will be graded.
This week you will reflect on the value of this course for your personal and professional life. Reflect on the following questions. Create an outline of your topics. PART II:
To demonstrate the ease of communication in today’s technological world, you will create a short video self-introduction. This type of technology might seem daunting to some, but once you accomplish this, you'll find how technology simplifies today's communication. You can do this.
Your video introduction provides an opportunity for you to ensure you have access to the necessary video/audio technology that promotes success in an electronically linked world. The theme of your video introduction is “It Represents Me.” In your video introduction, identify an object or prop that represents you; explain how and why it represents you. Your video introduction should be approximately 3 minutes in length.
Record your video directly on YouTube or via Screencast-o-matic (https://screencast-o-matic.com/); Throughout this course, when you create a video and upload it to YouTube, select the privacy setting UNLISTED. In that way, the videos will not appear in searches. Two weeks after the end of the course, you may delete these videos, if you wish.
Introduce yourself via a written and video introduction.
- In your written introduction, share a little bit about yourself including:
- Name you prefer to be called
- Location (town or state that you currently reside)
- Educational background (including the last time you took classes, your experience with online classes, etc…)
- Educational goals (including your major or career aspiration)
