http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottedinger/2012/08/07/three-cs-of-implementing-strategy/#5fa5475276b1

This article focuses on three specific areas that the author feels are important in order to implement our Strategy.  Since this week's learning is regarding creating an implementation plan, I wanted to bring in a different perspective on key areas to keep in mind related to our implementation plan.

Class,

What are the three Cs that are mentioned in the article and how would they impact the creation of our implementation plan?

Constructing a Strategic Plan Video   200 word count

posted by April

Hello Class,

This is a very informative video that touched on constructing a plan with the consumer in mind. In order to determine how to grow an organization or make it more effective and efficient, it is important to have an understanding via the collection of fact base information, followed by developing a plan which is making a hypothesis about how to improve a company's situation, and then execution via testing the hypothesis through either simulations or by reviewing how other companies have handled the situation. Ruth, the Senior Vice President of Student Experience at University of Phoenix expresses how it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the needs of your consumer base without actually asking the customer what he/she wants. Consumers tend to think about what they want now, as opposed to what may be more efficient for them in the future. A deep understanding is necessary if you wish to compete in the industry because of how quickly advancements occur. In an effort to avoid others (competitors) duplicating your processes or products, it is imperative that you stay ahead of such advancements.

Evaluating the strategies of an organization is constant because once a goal is accomplished, new goals are created or if an organization is not achieving what has been established, revamping or revising may the plan may be necessary so that goals are achieved on schedule.

Creating a strategic plan video     300 word count

posted by Andrew

I found this video to be interesting. I look at the strategic plan project throughout this course to be just like this video. The video shows the three steps as collect, plan, and execute. The collecting information portion was conducting the internal and external environmental analyses. This must be done before making any sort of plan, otherwise you cannot really justify any ideas you are hypothesizing for the strategic plan. For the plan stage, this is when we created the strategic plan to include concrete recommendations for the selected company. Finally, the execute stage is just like the implementation plan paper we all had to write for week 5.

Hello Class,

After reading the article in the link below, which talks about the risk and impact that big organizational changes could have in an organization, please answer the question below.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/kevinready/2013/07/24/a-hidden-risk-of-big-organizational-change/#7fd4f8c59e3d

One of the main ideas we can get out of this article is the impact that big organizational changes could have in not only the organization but also the individuals.

This article also talks a little bit about the motivational motivators and what drives us to do what we do and how we do it.

Class,

What gives you the energy to roll out of bed every morning, put our shoes on, and show up at the office with your game face on?

Motivational Drivers    200word count

posted by Andrew

This was an interesting part of the Forbes article posted by the professor. I have not spent a whole lot of time thinking about motivation drivers in the context of different jobs. I have mostly just thought about it in terms of people being motivated to make money and succeed. It is interesting to see how engineers can be more motivated by the desire to build things, whereas a lawyer has much different motivation drivers. Lawyers do not build things so this makes sense. It makes me wonder what my motivation drivers are working in insurance claims. I guess it would likely be the motivation to resolve claims timely and to the insured's satisfaction. Though many days my driver is to just get all my work done so I can go home and relax!

Strategy "Commencement" Address    200word count

Hello Class,

The Strategy "Commencement" Address is a very inspiring and motivational video that really touched me. A few of the advices that stood out for me are as follows:

Be conscious of who you want to be around because it can impact your life. This is where I believe your values and the values of the company comes into play. You want to have a career where the values of people align with one another.

Pursue what you are passionate about, doing so will add so much more value to your life and will make you WANT to get out of bed in the morning. Healthcare is my passion and although I have changed my major several times throughout the course of my education, I have always stayed within the health care industry. I have only worked for two employers (one is my current employer) where I have enjoyed going into work and making a difference. That is passion

Embrace your education because you may use the information in the future, stay fresh through continued education and/or professional organizations, and apply what you have learned.

Know your business and your clientèle because that is what makes you successful and will make the organization fruitful.
