Structured Query Language (SQL) is A special language that is used when you wish to update, delete, or request specific information from your database. A query statement is when you make a request to retrieve information from a database table. Depending on the queries that you use will determine the information that you retrieve. You can have a database with hundreds of tables in it, and with the use of query statements you will be able to pull out very specific information. If you work for an organization that employs hundreds of people and you wish to know how many of the people in a specific department have the same last name you can do this using the percent symbol after the first letter of the name you are looking for. To find people with the last name of Roberts you would SELECT * FROM department WHERE NAME like ‘RO%’ ; . If you are wanting to remove people from the tables in your database due to employees leaving the organization you would use a delete from query. This query statement will remove all records of said employee from every table in your database. To perform this action you would need the employees ID number, and then use the command, DELETE FROM employees WHERE employeeID = 13942; . In turn, if you are wanting to add a new employee to the tables in your database you would want to use an update query. UPDATE Employee SET ContactName = WHERE EmployeeID = 13942;

By definition SQL or "Structured Query Language” is a programming language for manipulating data and relational database systems to communicate with databases and manage the data they contain. SQL is a language based on procedural and structured programming paradigms, intending to create complex processes intended to be stored on the database server (server objects), such as stored procedures or triggers. The use of SQL language is also essential to create database triggers, which allow the implementation of complex business rules and audits in the database which is made up of tables. Each of these tables is made up of columns and rows and represents a set of data. Thus, SQL makes it possible to create or manipulate arrays from a valid command as an example such as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, etc. Here is the 3x SQL query statement that I might use for my data: 1) Select, where I will choose the patients with the same last name like "PIERRE", same-sex, and same date of birth (DOB)2) Insert to create a column where each patient has personal or own medical number "MRN #", blood type, diagnosis, proxy. 3) Update to create a column regarding their last visit, their ongoing medication, their emergency contact, their current address, their valid insurance, admission date, follow-up, updated vaccination, an advance directive.
Using this SQL statement which I call "Name Alert" will prevent the staff to make some mistaken identification that can put the patient's life in jeopardizing, and even cause his death.
