Students will assemble at least five scholarly academic references related to their specific subsection that will be used to write the paper (refer to the tutorial on Scholarly References and Accessing Library Databases found in the Writing and Research Help tab for help on this assignment). Each student will list his or her references using APA format and provide a brief explanation of each resource indicating how that resource will be used. The focus should be on the student's specific research assignment. This is an individual assignment.

Subsection to do assignment on is --- "Other forms of ocean contamination - This section will discuss the common ocean contamination such as pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, detergents, oil, sewage, plastics, and other solids."

Thesis Statement : “Environmental ethics is the discipline in philosophy that studies the moral relationship of human beings to, and also the value and moral status of, the environment and its non-human contents (Brennan & Lo, 2002)”.  Ethicists in the field have several goals; to challenge human-centered ways of thinking; to explore eco-feminism and social ecology; to integrate traditional philosophical models with current environmental issues; and to promote an ethical approach to the environment. 

According to the US Energy information Administration, the world energy consumption is projected to grow by 28% from 2015 to 2040 (Today in Energy).  While fossil fuels are projected to still be a large source of energy for the world in 2040, sustainable energy is projected to become a larger portion of energy supply. As our society continues to grow along with the ever increasing needs of energy to support our various forms of technology, ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is an emerging technology with great promise for providing long term sustainable and clean energy for coastal areas.

Each entry should come from an academic source. Use the library databases, as stated above. I do not want Google searches, unless they lead to someplace reputable and reliable, like government websites (EPA, NOAA, DOE, DENR).
