For this assignment, you will assess the design of a supply chain, using the SCOR model and the SCRMP to guide your assessment.

Assignment Directions

To complete this assignment:

• Identify a current global supply chain example for a consumer product. Choose one for which there is sufficient information available to assess the degree to which it leverages cultural understanding and integrates governmental, legal, and environmental considerations to achieve a sustainable business result.
• Evaluate the design of the supply chain.
  • Apply the SCOR model and performance measures.
  • Apply the SCRMP to identify and propose risk mitigation strategies
  • Consider how the organization integrates governmental, legal, and environmental considerations and cultural understanding in its design.
• Write a 4–5 page paper describing and evaluating the supply chain design.
  • Utilize the SCRMP and the SCOR model in your description.
  • Identify supply chain risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPI) for this supply chain and describe the chain's performance versus competing supply chains.
  • Assess the integration of governmental, legal, and environmental considerations in the design of a global supply chain, and the degree to which it leverages cultural understanding.

Readings

Use your textbook and the Capella library to complete the following:

• In your Operations Management: Processes and Supply Chains text, read
  • Chapter 13, "Supply Chain Logistics Networks," pages 511–532. This reading examines the critical decision of where to locate facilities. Using geographic information systems and quantitative methods, you will see how to address a wide range of factors used to make location decisions.
  • Chapter 14, "Supply Chain Integration," pages 543–569. This reading addresses the critical matter of connecting business processes of supply chain partners. It examines product and service development, and customer-supplier relationship management.
• Read Tummala and Schoenherr's 2011 article, "Assessing and Managing Risks Using the Supply Chain Risk Management Process (SCRMP)," from Supply Chain Management, volume 16, issue 6, pages 474–483. This reading introduces an industry standard process (SCRMP) for identifying and addressing risks in supply chain management.
• Read Zhou, Benton Jr., Schilling, and Milligan's 2011 article, "Supply Chain Integration and the SCOR Model," from the Journal of Business Logistics, volume 32, issue 4, pages 332–344. This reading will help you see how to use the SCOR model to describe and assess the integration of business processes among supply chain partners.
