As a group, decide on the organizational command structure for the incident.  Identify which Command and General Staff Functions will be activated for the incident and members from which disciplines that will staff each of the positions. The final product is a list of command and general staff positions including the units activated under each general staff position. (Resource NIMS Document: Appendix A. Incident Command System)

  1. (Group Task) Complete the ICS 203 Form with the information discussed as a group.  The Operations Section should be designed with a branch for each discipline (Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS, Public Works).  The organizational structure below the branch level will be handled as individual task in the next step below. Complete the ICS-203 form yourself and upload to the assignments folder.
  2. (Individual Task)  Detail the Operations Section design for your response discipline.  This should describe everything below the Branch down to the Unit level (see example below).  The example only shows one group and two units.  The completed version should show all groups and units.  The operations section should be organized in a manner that both meets the incident objectives agreed upon in Task #2 and any specific responsibilities that may be described in the National Response Framework. Explain the structure of your operations section in a 1-2 page description. Detail how this relates to the achievement of incident objectives and response policy. (cite them).  (Upload to the student assignments folder)
