Task a: Post your picture with the following heading:
Name of the piece:
Year and Artist:
INSTRUCTIONS:
It is a complex topic, and finding pictures will be a challenge.
Note: You want to ensure you are not finding Modern Art because that is an entirely different movement – sort of. A Postmodernist Artist rejects all modernism forms being they are a subset or smaller form of Contemporary Art. BUTTTT true to form, a Postmodernist artist rejects that their art object can even be categorized as Postmodernist. You are looking for something representational and something that asks a question without asking a question. Jean-François Lyotard is the father of Postmodernism, which might help your art search. I would also suggest keywords such as ‘High Modernism.’ This is a helpful website that explains the differences between art movements.
Task 2b: Posting your Video
Finally, answering the questions below, post your video on Flip-grid.
You will include your oral responses to the following questions.
1. There is a strong connection between the ‘World Events’ that created the Modern and Postmodern movements. These movements didn’t spring forth out of anywhere. The World Events are the parents of these movements. What are your thoughts on Postmodernism and how it is connected to our world today?
2. Explain your art piece in the context of Postmodernism and what should our takeaway thoughts be from viewing the piece?
