The earliest Christians, as well as the Church in Middle Ages and many Christians today, have believed that one's works make a contribution toward salvation. In defending this view, they could point to Romans 6, 1 Cor 13, and Galatians 5:6. In your judgment, do these passages support the idea that salvation is a matter not only of faith, but also of obedience (ie, of loving others)? How would you respond to the claim that salvation is by faith but not therefore without works? Would you agree or disagree?
