In an essay of approximately 2000 words, compare two or three works of literature included in different units of this course in terms of their form, genre, themes, and their historic functions within the society in which they were written and originally read. This essay must incorporate at least six and no more than 10 sources and those sources must be documented in accordance with the MLA style guidelines. Units to choose from are Unit 1: Epic Poetry - Homer,  Odyssey - Virgil, Aeneid - Ovid, Metamorphoses - Dante, Inferno - and Sunjata. Unit 2: Ancient Athenian Drama - Sophocles, oedipus Rex - Artistophanes, Lysistrata - and Aeschylus. Unit 3: Sacred Literature - Genesis - Koran - New Testament - and Confucius, Analects . Unit 4: Secular Prose - 1001 Nights - Boccaccio, Decameron - Chaucer , Canterbury Tales - and Cervantes, Don Quixote
