In this assignment you will have the opportunity to write a formal paper in Word. You will demonstrate the use of APA formatting and citations, creating an outline, and using the proofing system in Word.
*Note: at the end of the PPT section (and the class) you will give a presentation on your paper, so keep that in mind as you pick your topic and write your paper. This presentation is your PPT exam.
- This paper should NOT be written in the 1st person (do not use “I”)
- You are not allowed to have your own opinions. This is a topic you are researching and are therefore not an expert. Be sure to cite everything in your paper!
- You should never use the word “it” unless you are referring to a company
- Paragraphs should be at least 5 sentences long
- Need to have a strong thesis statement in the first paragraph
- Spell check!!! – Remember I will be viewing your papers on the computer (not a printed copy) which means I can see all the red and yellow lines!
- You should NEVER use Wikipedia as a source. It is a great place to go to get initial information and to find sources available (you can find its sources at the bottom of the page).
- Remember to have a thesis statement in the first paragraph (what is your paper about?)
- For your Works Cited page you need to insert it from the References tab.
Paper requirements:
- 4-6 pages
- APA format
- References (3 source minimum cited in APA– this page is not included in the 4-6 page criteria)
- Spelling and punctuation are important
