THERE ARE A TOTAL OF THREE RESPONSES NEEDED..

Guided Response:You will choose one peer to respond to in this forum. Please choose a peer that has not had the benefit of other peer’s feedback. This way everyone will have the advantage of additional comments.

Share your thoughts with your peer using the following questions as a guide:

What do you think about the workshop itself? Based on the workshop description what do you think the popularity will be? Will it be engaging? What could your classmate add to the description to entice more clients to attend the workshop?

If you were your peer’s supervisor, what suggestions would you make to ensure that the workshop runs smoothly? Is there anything you would change, add, or delete?

Would you attend the workshop? Why or why not?

List the professional standard in your response.

Provide a possible solution to your peer’s posted scenario, and include enough details, so it is clear.

NAEYC Standard 7: Families

The program establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with each child’s family to foster children’s development in all settings. These relationships are sensitive to family composition, language, and culture. To support children’s optimal learning and development, programs need to establish relationships with families based on mutual trust and respect, involve families in their children’s educational growth, and encourage families to fully participate in the program.

Why did you choose the standard you did?

I choose this standard because it’s builds a relationship with the families. I believe in connecting with the families in order to understand their background and culture and have a successful safe and learning environment and help the children success in their development.

Describe the steps you would take to solve this problem.

I would conduct a conference for the parents and address their concerns about their child playing in the kitchen area and dressing up dolls. I would mention to them that I respect their cultures. But I cannot force the child not to play in the kitchen area and with the dolls. I will explain to them our center philosophy and mission on how to support children’s development when it comes to social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills. I will mentioned to them that baby dolls offer kids a lot of opportunities for developing their cognitive, fine motor skills, and self help skills.

Create an ethical scenario of your own that pertains to your field of study for your peers to solve. Be sure that your scenario is detailed enough so that your peers from a different field of study can understand the situation and problem solve.

A mother was really upset when she picked up her child in school and her expensive clothes are always dirty and she looks messy. The mother asked the teacher not to let her child do art or play in the sensory table. How would you address the mother’s concern?

The resource link wasn’t working for me so I chose two NAEYC standards: Standard 1 Relationships and Standard 6: Staff Competencies, Preparation, and Support.

Program number 1 relationships promotes positive relationships among all children and adults. This program encourages each child’s sense of individual worth and belonging as part of community. Warm, sensitive, and responsive relationships help children feel secure.

Program number 6 staff competencies, preparation, and support employs and supports a teaching staff with the educational qualifications, knowledge, and professional commitment necessary to promote children’s learning and development and to support familiesdiverse needs and interests.

Why did you choose the standard you did?

I chose these standards because they not only discuss building positive relationships among children but among adults as well. Also the program encourages a child’s sense of worth. The second standard discusses making sure teachers are prepared to offer support and help to families with diverse needs which is what I would need in the scenario.

Describe the steps you would take to solve the problem.

I would break down all of my instructions into smaller manageable tasks. I would try to limit distractions as well as loud noises. I would also work very closely with the resource teacher to make sure that Alex gets what he needs while my students still get what they need. I would put Alex up front to make sure he gets everything that I am teaching. Also on the first day I would make sure to welcome Alex with open arms. Children model behavior they see so if I treat him like he is another students while using all of my resources they will too.

You are a preschool teacher. This year you have a student who is great at everything else: motor skills, dramatic play, shape sorting and recognition, math, STEM activities, etc. However, when this student doesn’t get their way they use violence to get their. The other students have become afraid of this student and don’t want to play with them. You have tried talking to the parent but they think that it’s just a phase. How would you solve this?
