There are only three journals left to finish for this class! So, make your last journals good!

Ok, we discussed today an ancient problem about religion and ethics (called the "Euthyphro problem" if you want to do any outside reading). At the end of class, I tried to connect this idea to how we experience beauty which set up two possibilities to choose from:

(1) Are the objects which I experience beautiful?

OR

(2) Is beauty merely a way which I experience neutral objects in the world?

This distinction is called the "subjective-objective" distinction and gets to a central problem in thinking about how we are related to the world (both ethically and otherwise). What I want you to do for this journal is to have the room to "free write" and explore these ideas however you would like. Write about God and morality if you wish, think about beauty and the beautiful, but either way try and reflect on how this connects to ethics. Have fun and enjoy!
