Chapter 2 talked a lot about perception, including perception of self. For this discussion post, I want you to reflect upon the social and cultural schema that have constructed your sense of self. This will require you to reflect upon how the media, your family, your friends, your teachers, cultural norms, stereotypes, etc. have created your self-concept.
1. Choose two concepts from chapter 2 that are relevant to how your self-concept has been developed. Use the textbook to define the two terms.
2. Then, explain how these two concepts have shaped your perception of your sense of self-concept. I want you to give personal examples and/or share stories about experiences you've had and clearly explain how these experiences are examples of the definitions you provided. For example, you could talk about self-fulfilling prophecies. You would begin by defining this term; then you would write about your personal story that resulted in a self-fulfilling prophecy.
