This is for my philosophy class, and I am really struggling with how to respond. I need the answer as soon as possible.

The only way we can associate with "ourselves" and environment is by an agreed upon set of "terms" that have become the standard. How has this standard set of terms come about? Are they learned empirically and written on our proverbial whiteboard, or are they built in or innate?
