"I understand the physical components of how a network operates (routers, switches, hubs, cables, modems, cards etc...) What I do not understand is how every uplink takes you to the same place in space, ie the web. How does a specific computer(mine) and a computer somewhere else in the world log in to the same website, viewing the same info, at the same time? Where is the database for the Internet? Is there a huge server locater in someone's garage that powers the entire Internet? Is the Internet a tangible or an intangible? If it is intangible where does the know how come from? I am probably over thinking this as I tend to over complicate things. What is the difference between CISCO and other networking programs? any information will be greatly appreciated."
