Journal entries for this week we focused on Exodus 34:1-8 (Exo 34:1-8). Below are my 3 journal entries that can be looked at for this paper…..
1. I spent nearly thirty minutes on the first session. The phrases that surfaced for me were; “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.” (Exodus 34:1) And “No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.” (Exodus 34:3). These phrases stood out for me mainly because they were actually said by God.
“Dear Lord, thank you for being God and coming through for me in the many ways that you do. I ask you to forgive my iniquities. As well, help me live my life in the light of the truth that you have enabled me to discover. Thank you for answering my prayers.”
2. I spent roughly thirty-five minutes on my second session. According to the phrase; “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.” (Exodus 34:1), God’s character is seen. It partially signifies the displeasure God had on the account of the sin of the Israelites. On the second phrase “No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.” (Exodus 34:3), it clearly depicts the stringent precautions to be taken on a Holy ground. All this was done to impress the people with the holiness of God.
“Dear God, I believe in you and your Holiness and your ability to do amazing things. Therefore I humbly ask you to help me live in light of the truth that you have enabled me to discover.”
3. During my third session, I spent thirty minutes. During this time, I noticed images of a holy countenance. This, I believe is as an effect of all the discoveries of God’s holiness I made during the preceding sessions of opening myself to God’s spirit. The silent reflection also had a great impact on this.
“Our Father in heaven, I honor you and respect your power. Thank you for being God. I ask you to enable me to live in the truth that you have let me discover in you. I thank you for answering my prayers.”
