This research paper will take you more in-depth on an area and/or population of social work that you are interested in.  The topics available are listed below and you will choose ONE topic to focus on for your paper. 

Increase of the Aging Population

Childhood Hunger

Sex Trafficking in the Native American Community

Incarceration Rates for Minorities

Suicide Rate for Trans People

You will conduct thorough research on this issue using a minimum of 5 sources.  You must utilize only scholarly and academic journals, professional websites (American Medical Association, Bureau of Crime, etc.), and textbooks for three of the sources.  The other 2 sources can be credible news or magazine articles, editorials, etc. 

In your paper, you will address the following:

The historical context of the issue- how long has it been happening, why, etc.

What are the major effects of this issue?  Who is affected?  How?  What other areas of society are affected?

What is the role of the social worker in this issue?

What current interventions or solutions are being used for this issue?

You will have a minimum of 4 pages for your research paper (not including cover sheet and works cited).  Your paper will be professional (use third person and no “I” statements), grammatically sound, and used citations appropriately. 

A Works Cited Page must be included with your paper.
