Unit IV Journal

The principles of designs (unity and variety, balance, emphasis and subordination, scale and proportion, and rhythm) are organizing principles artists use to arrange their composition. The way an artist may use the principles can have a dramatic effect.

Find two artworks that make contrasting use of the principles of design. For example, you might find one work that has a lot of unity and one work that has a lot of variety. What is the overall effect of these principles? How do your chosen artworks make use of the principles in different ways?

Please look to online galleries and museums to find your examples. There is a list of museums in the LibGuide for Art Appreciation. You may not use the examples the textbook includes for these concepts. You must cite and reference the source where you find each artwork image; APA format is required for all citations and references. Your journal should be 500 words or more, not including any headers, title pages or references
