PART 1- Module 1 Mini Discussion (VAL)- Use of Contractions & First and Second Persons in Formal Writing

The use of contractions and first and second persons in formal writing is not acceptable in most courses, and particularly in this one.  Your academic and research papers are considered “formal writing” and should be written in the third person and without contractions.

In about 250 words, discuss your past experiences writing essays and research papers using contractions and the first and second persons, and why you should end this practice in favor of writing research papers and assignments in the third persons only, and free of contractions. 

Is there ever a place for contractions, and first and second persons in formal writing?

PART 2- Module 1 DISCUSSION (VAL)- Organization Development & Problem Solving

Discuss how your organization (HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT) uses the participative, collaborative, problem-focused nature of OD and the expertise of your colleagues to solve important problems and promote opportunities to enhance its successful development. Give concrete examples.

PART 3- Module 1 ASSIGNMENT (VAL)- Strengthening an Organization

Define and describe the concept of Organization Development, show how it operates, and describe the role of action research in strengthening an organization’s structure, culture, and processes. Strengthen your argument by choosing one of the seven illustrations cited in Chapter One that best fits your workplace. You will support your choice by giving examples from your workplace (HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT) that closely resemble the Illustration you have chosen.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: The paper should be formatted per the current APA and 3 pages in length, excluding the title and reference page. Incorporate a minimum of 5 current (published within the last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work.
