We did a paper chromatography with 4 solvents, ammonia, hexane, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone, where we put a dot of a Crayola marker in a piece of filter paper and see the results after the solvents have traveled along the paper; I just wanted to know what is the scientific reason behind the different results depending on the solvent used, please.
