Web Design IP#2

Unit:

Over the next 4 weeks, take an existing design created for a Web site and coding it using HTML5 and CSS. The Web site will be for a bookstore and will contain a total of 4 page. The design files and necessary images have been provided to you so that you can concentrate on using code to implement the design.

Begin putting together the bookstore layout using the design file as a guide. This is often referred to as wire framing. You will be creating the basic elements for your page using HTML5 and CSS in Dreamweaver.

Working With Code

Using Dreamweaver, create HTML5 document to reflect the page layout.

  • First, set up a local site definition in Dreamweaver by going through Site > New Site options. This has to be done once per each site you develop. Do not move or rearrange your files once your local site definition has been created. Once your site folder has been established, create new page and name it "index.html."
  • Using a combination of semantic markup and tags with #ids, recreate the structure of your site as defined by the design. To do so, you will need to create external style sheet. Call it "style.css."
  • Make use of the "float" attribute to achieve the 2-column layout of your site.
  • Once you have recreated the basic structure of your wireframe (header, navigation, 2-column content area, and footer), save the file. You will add the graphical and styling elements in the next IP.

Your submission must include the following:

  • .zip of your site root folder containing your "index.html" and your "style.css"

Please submit your assignment.

Adhere to APA formatting and reference guidelines when writing your response. Additionally, your response should be free of grammatical errors, use complete sentences, and give specific details to support statements.
