What are some examples of benthic zones?
A Benthic zone is essentially the ground underneath a body of water. This is could be either the Sea floor or the bottom of a lake etc.
Therefore examples of Benthic zones encompass a wide range of sediment types, such as; sandy bottoms, rocky outcrops, corals and mud.
Organisms living within this zone or which have a strong relationship with the substrate bottom are called Benthos.
