Iophotrochozoans (also called Lophotrochozoans) are a major classification group of protostomes within the animal kingdom.

Their name means "crest" or "wheel" animals in Greek, and has also been suggested to mean "spiralian."

This is because iophotrochozoans are bilaterally symmetrical, which means that the right half of their bodies is a mirror image of its left half. (This is a uniting feature among all arthropods).
