What are the reactants and products of photosynthesis and its role in the enviorment?
Reactants: 6H2O and 6CO2 (and sometimes sunlight is counted).
Products: C6H12O6 and 6O2
is a major role in the food chain; not only do plants receive energy from it, but other organisms too.
The chemical formula is 6H2O+6C02 ----> C6H12O6 + 6O2. The molecules on the left side of the arrow are the reactants because they are the materials involved to perform the reaction. The molecules on the left are the products.
Photosynthesis is important because it provides an energy source (directly and indirectly) for most organisms. When plants undergo photosynthesis, they create chemical food-like energy for themselves, which is then harnessed by animals when they consume the plants.
