QUESTION

What ate the intrinsic and non intrinsic semi conductors?

Intrinsic semiconductor means pure s.c and non intrinsic or extrinsic are impurity mixed s.c.

Intrinsic semiconductor means pure semiconductor...elements having 4 electrons in their outer most orbit....bounded via co-valent bonds with neighbours of same element. Non intrinsic or we can say extrinsic semiconductor are artificially made by doping or inserting or adding very small amount of trivalent or pentavalent atoms as impurity, for increasing conduction. As in case of Ge having 4 electrons in its outer most orbit bounded via co valent bond with neighbor electrons of other Ge. So less probability for presence of free electron or hole as charge carrier to conduct current ,hence to increase the conduction add 1 or 2 atom of either trivalent atom i.e., Al or pentavalent atom i.e., P among large amount of germanium atoms about 10 power 23 perhaps so tht co-valent bond remains uncomplete and provides charge carrier for conduction.
