What does "being made redundant" mean? Not the repetitive meaning, the employment-related meaning?
Being redundant means your job function is being done by someone else.
To be made redundant means that your job function is being done by someone else - so you are not doing anything of value that isn't already being done by someone else. So there is a repetitive meaning to it (as in the job duty is being done by more than you) and there is also a negative meaning to it as well - the person who is considered redundant is also the one who will probably be fired (whereas the other person who is also doing the job function is not considered redundant).
