pus is actually made of dead neutrophils (type of WBCs) which died in their fight against bacteria .

Special type of bacteria called pyogenic are able to produce Leukocidins that kill neutrophils and when neutrophils are dead they release proteolytic enzyme that also liquify the tissue proteins
