cisterns are flattened sacs containing water or any fluid.
Cisterns with respect to biology are micro flattened sacs that contain water.. they are somewhat like the picture above ( the blue part is the cavity of the cistern filled with fluid) .the cisterns are found in cellular organelles like nuclear envelope, golgi apparatus etc.
