What is the difference between an ether and an ester?

Ester: R-O-OR Ether: R-O-R
Ester: In Ester, alkoxy group -R is attached with -OOR. Esters are alkyl derivatives of carboxylic acids. InIUPAC system the name of ester is alkyl alkanoate.
Properties:
1- Esters have fragrant odors are used as in perfumes, essential oils, food flavorings, cosmetics, etc 2. Esters are mostly used as an organic solvent
Ether: In Ether, oxygen is between two alkyl radicals, -R. In IUPAC system name of ether is alkoxy alkane.
Properties: 1.Ether is colorless and evaporates very quickly when exposed to air. 2.Ether is highly inflammable.
